Good mother of Horus, I love the Internet. lol So this thread, as the title says, is for Home Remedies. Lately when I've been sick, I've decided to go online and see if there are any good Home Remedies that might help ease pain/get me better faster. And today, while I was searching for a Home Remedy to cure my ultra painful canker sore, I thought, "Why not make a thread at C:RR? Perhaps something I find out my be useful to someone else?" So here I am.  1. Black Licorice for Sore Throats
I've tried this one and I'm proud to say that it actually worked! It's very simple, you just suck on pieces of black licorice while you have a sore throat and it'll help to ease the pain.Right now, I'm also testing out Baking Soda Pastes for Canker Sores. If it works, I'll be sure to list it here. And if anyone has anything they've tried (for any ailment/illness/etc...) you're welcome to add to the list. |

I don't like licorice. I do also know that boiled water, honey and lemon does wonders for raspy and sore throats/coughs and brandy does a singer a world of good if they need a quick fix.

^Oh yeah I heard that. I didn't know black licorice did that, and even though I don't like it I'd still give it a try. Does red licorice do that trick too? because I really like that kind, haha. I also have been told to gurgle hot water with salt in it, since that eases it.

I think it's only the black licorice, because it's the natural and therefore there's something in it that helps ease the pain which the articifial kind doesn't have.  Sorry. But I suppose you could always try red licorice anyway. Even if it doesn't work...it can be your reward for getting better. lol Oh, the salt water. My mom always tells me that when I'm sick. I know it's supposed to help, but I swear it never helps me that much. (Maybe I'm just weird?) Astral Chaos, did the black licorice trick work for you, out of curiosity? 4. Baking Soda Paste for Canker Sores
Mix about a teaspoon or so of baking soda with a few drops of warm water and apple to the canker sore with a q-tip.Warning: It stings for a while the baking soda paste has been applied, BUT after the stinging goes away, the sore will become numb for a while.[/i][/color] |

It did work. I recommend this to anyone with a sore throat .
My mom always tells me to gurgle the salt water too, but it only ever helps slightly.

It barely does anything and of course it's never long term. *shrug* I'm so glad the black licorice worked for you!  You just can't go wrong there (so long as you're a person who likes it). It tastes good and it makes the suffering go away! It's a win-win. |

Yeah that's the only thing I don't like about the sal water thing, it is only good for like a minute than your back to a sore throat. And you other new one for a sore throat, sounds a little dangerous, lol. It'll sting and go numb?! Oh well I'll give it a try sometime, it better make my sore throat go away though!

Oh no, the baking soda paste is not for sore throats, it's for canker sores - those little white sores that randomly pop up on the inside of your mouth, usually when you've eaten too much sugary or acidic foods and then constantly sting like crazy. The paste does sting at first, but I personally find it better to suffer for a while and then have it go numb, instead of constantly having it sting. |

Oh good. I was going to say, I don't think you should have paste on your throat! Haha, now I feel a little stupid, but don't worry I didn't do it. But I'll try that, I don't think I've gotten a canker sore yet but if I do I'll be sure to do that.
Also this is a little off topic but did you let someone use your banner over at C-Net besides off course Alex who made them. Because there's a member there who is using an avator put just got off the part that says forever Charmed and the preivew font on it. So I just thought I'd let you know or maybe pm Alex?

Sorry, it won't let me do it since it won't let unlogged on people on so I think contacting Alex is the best option. And there's no official credit to Alex in the profile, but like you said a person could've asked Alex otherwise it looks like someone is stealing(shame, shame).

Alright, nevermind, I found the person. Fortunately, they didn't cut the banner, but they did use the URL in place of a custom avatar though, so it squished the banner into the confines of the avatar box and it's hard to see "FOUREVER CHARMED - EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW from ALEX" at the bottom.
