[Scene: Underworld. DEMITRIUS shimmers in. Sweat is dripping from his face. He looks tired and terrified. He stares up at the ceiling.][/b]

DEMITRIUS: (yelling) This wasn’t part of the plan! You said you’d help me; you said I’d be safe!

(PIPER HALLIWELL smokes in, followed by SVENGALI. DEMITRIUS looks at SVENGALI, who in turn looks at PIPER.)

SVENGALI: (to PIPER) Your time is now, Piper. Exact your vengeance.

(DEMITRIUS starts to shimmer out, but PIPER raises her hands and he flies into a wall. Blood dribbles from a gash on his head as bits of red rock and dust fall around him. He looks pleadingly towards SVENGALI.)

DEMITRIUS: (to SVENGALI) The Source-

SVENGALI: (to DEMITRIUS) Changed his mind. (to PIPER) Do it!

(PIPER raises her hand and begins to curl her hand as if she’s strangling someone. Suddenly, DEMITRIUS begins to choke as his neck turns red and a white imprint in the shape of a hand appears around his throat. She moves closer, all the while her irises flashing between brown and red.)

PIPER: (to DEMITRIUS) You killed my daughter. You don’t deserve to live!

(PIPER holds out her hand and in a puff of black smoke, an athame with a gold handle in the shape of a serpent with ruby eyes appears. She kneels down in front of DEMITRIUS as he grabs at his throat, gasping for breath. Suddenly, she drops her hand to the side, allowing him to breathe. Then his eyes bulge and his mouth falls open. He looks down at his stomach to see the serpent handle of PIPER’s athame sticking out of him. Dark pools of red blood are gushing from his body and coating PIPER’s hands. She stares at him, emotionless. Then she grabs the handle of the athame and twists it. DEMITRIUS lets out a wild scream as the red rubies on the serpent’s eyes glow, then he explodes in a fiery vanquish. The athame falls to the floor with a clank. PIPER’s irises turn red, but this time they do not turn back.)

SVENGALI: You’ve completed your first task. (She picks up the athame as PIPER robotically turns to her.) And now you must finish what you’ve started.

PIPER: How?

SVENGALI: By killing all who are responsible for your daughter’s death.

PIPER: Demitrius-

SVENGALI: Was only the one to pull the trigger…so to speak. (SVENGALI smiles wickedly as she waves her hand. A DARKLIGHTER appears. He looks around, confused. Then he sees PIPER and summons his crossbow. SVENGALI plunges the athame into the DARKLIGHTER's chest and he screams as he burns. The crossbow falls to the floor.) Think, Piper. Who was not there to heal your baby? (Her eyes twinkle as she summons the crossbow to her hands.) And why?

PIPER: Leo…and Paige.

(SVENGALI holds the crossbow out to PIPER. After a beat, PIPER takes the crossbow from SVENGALI’s hands.)

Act One

[Scene: Manor. Attic. PHOEBE HALLIWELL is standing in the middle of the room with her arms folded.]

PHOEBE: “Magic forces black and white,
reaching out through space and light.
Be he far or be here near,
bring me the demon Belthazor here!”

(Wind whips through the attic, then COLE TURNER appears. COLE looks around, confused. Then he spots PHOEBE.)

COLE: Phoebe-

PHOEBE: (cutting in) Don’t you Phoebe me-

(A DEMON shimmers in behind PHOEBE.)

COLE: (yelling) Look out!

(PHOEBE turns just as the demon hurls an energy ball at her. She levitates above the energy ball, twists, and throws out her leg to kick the DEMON. The DEMON grabs her by the ankle and throws her into a stack of boxes. COLE generates an energy ball and chucks it at the DEMON, who shimmers out. COLE’s energy ball shatters a mirror as the DEMON shimmers in again. As COLE sees him, he sends an energy ball of his own at COLE, which hits him in the shoulder. COLE lets out a primal roar as he stumbles back, before shifting into BELTHAZOR. PRUE HALLIWELL and PAIGE MATTHEWS run in.)

PRUE: Phoebe, we heard a- (She sees BELTHAZOR as PAIGE sees the DEMON.)

PAIGE: Demon!

(The DEMON aims an energy ball at PRUE, who raises her arm and reflects it back at him. PAIGE notices BELTHAZOR as the energy ball smacks into the chest of the DEMON, engulfing him in flames. PAIGE takes a small step backwards, unintentionally getting closer to PRUE. BELTHAZOR shifts back into COLE as PHOEBE moans from the wreckage.)

PHOEBE: A little help here! (PRUE runs over to PHOEBE and helps her up, while PAIGE stays frozen in her spot, staring at COLE.)

PRUE: (to PHOEBE) What’s going on up here?

PHOEBE: Demon, no biggie. (She waves her hand.) And by the way, (she pulls a small piece of broken colored glass from her palm) I think I just found the lost Christmas decorations.

PAIGE: (to PHOEBE) Are you okay?

PHOEBE: Yeah, (she touches her hair which is singed and rustled) except for my hair. (She rolls her eyes.) This is why I don’t spend money at the salon anymore.

PRUE: (to PHOEBE) What is he, (she extends her finger to COLE) doing here?

(PHOEBE dusts herself off.)

PHOEBE: I summoned him.

PRUE: (angrily) Why?

PHOEBE: We need his help.

PAIGE: (to PHOEBE) I thought you said you were up here looking for a way to find Piper?

PHOEBE: I am. (She walks over to COLE.) Cole took her to the Underworld, which means he must know where they went in the Underworld. If he can take me back down to backtrack their path, maybe I can get a premonition.

(COLE looks at PRUE.)

COLE: Phoebe, I don’t know if that’s the best idea right now.

PHOEBE: (to COLE) Why not? She’s blocking our spells, I’ve already tried to get a premonition from the things in her room, and we don’t exactly have a map of the Underworld to scry for her with. This logically seems like the next step. (PHOEBE looks smugly at PRUE. PRUE angrily shakes her head and leaves. PAIGE glances at COLE and then follows PRUE. PHOEBE looks at COLE.) Was it something I said?

[Scene: Underworld. THE ORACLE is running her fingers over her crystal ball as THE SOURCE hovers eagerly behind her. SVENGALI smokes in. She drops to her knees at the sight of THE SOURCE.]

SVENGALI: My Liege.

(THE SOURCE turns to her and motions his hand, beckoning her to stand. SVENGALI rises to her feet.)

THE SOURCE: What reason have you for leaving the witch?

SVENGALI: Her transformation is nearly complete. I’ve sent the Charmed witch after her youngest sister, and when the whitelighter comes to heal Paige, he’ll be killed as well. There will be no one left to heal the other three. (She bows her head.) If you’d like-

THE SOURCE: Do what you will with the other two, but Piper is to be left unharmed. I want her brought directly to me after she’s dealt with the halfbreed and her whitelighter.

SVENGALI: But my Liege-

THE SOURCE: You dare to question me?! (The cavern shakes and small pebbles and rock dislodge from the walls. SVENGALI bows her head in fear.)

SVENGALI: No! Of course not. I just...I just don’t understand your reasoning for wanting to keep the witch alive.

(THE SOURCE turns towards THE ORACLE, who smiles with pride.)

THE ORACLE: “The skies will darken and the rain shall ravage the land. In her moments of confusion, a Warren witch shall turn to evil, and all hope for the future will be lost.”

SVENGALI: (to THE ORACLE) You had a vision?

(THE ORACLE massages the crystal ball with her fingertips.)

THE ORACLE The vision was not mine.

SVENGALI: Then whose?

(THE ORACLE looks to THE SOURCE. THE SOURCE raises his hand and in a rage of red-orange flames, an old, leather bound diary appears. He holds it up, catching the eyes of SVENGALI.)

THE SOURCE: The granddaughter of Melinda Warren.

THE ORACLE: Cassandra had several visions as she lay suffering on her death bed from typhoid fever. The previous Source used his Seer to tap into Cassandra’s visions and stop them before they could be put into play. Her daughter began to believe that the visions Cassandra claimed to have were simply illusions brought on by the effects of her high fever.

THE SOURCE: Her final vision was of the demise of good magic…by a witch from her own lineage. She prophesized it within her diary just hours before her death. (He opens to the diary to the last page, where CASSANDRA’s prophecy is hand scribbled onto the pages in black ink.)

THE ORACLE: The Source of the time used his most powerful minions to attack and steal the diary before it could be placed into her daughter’s possession. (She eyes the diary.) It has remained in the hands of evil ever since, just waiting for the day in which the prophecy could be fulfilled.

Act Two

[Scene: Manor. Attic. PAIGE is seated on a chair with The Book of Shadows in her lap. She’s rereading the entry on SVENGALI. PRUE is pacing.][/b]

PAIGE: I’ve checked it three times, and there is only one way to vanquish Svengali.

PRUE: (impatiently) Potion? Spell? The Power of Three?

PAIGE: Piper. (PRUE stares at her, disbelievingly.) Only Svengali’s victim can vanquish her.

PRUE: And we’re supposed to get Piper to do that, how?

PAIGE: Forgiveness.

PRUE: Come again?

PAIGE: Piper has to forgive the person she believes is responsible for killing her baby.

PRUE: What?! (She walks over and grabs The Book from PAIGE.) That can’t be right! Piper has every right to blame Demitrius. How can she forgive him, a demon no less, for that?

(PAIGE bows her head.)

PAIGE: I don’t think that’s what it means.

(As PRUE places The Book of Shadows on its pedestal, she looks over at her sister.)

PRUE: Then what do you think it means?

(PAIGE bows her head slightly.)

PAIGE: I think it means she has to forgive herself.

PRUE: Herself? For what?

PAIGE: If there was one thing I learned from going to the past with Leo, it’s that my parents’ deaths were not my fault, but I still blamed myself anyway. I thought that if I had done one thing differently, then maybe they’d still be here. (She stands up.) I was wrong, and so is Piper.

[Scene: Underworld. THE ORACLE's lair. A fog clears in her crystal ball, revealing the image of a FUTURISTIC PIPER, THE SOURCE, and herself. THE ORACLE tilts her head to the side, unsure of what to make of this event. Then she gasps as THE SOURCE in her crystal ball tells PIPER to vanquish her, because without the threat of the Charmed Ones, she is no longer needed. THE ORACLE pulls her hands away from the crystal ball as the vision of herself explodes into a fiery vanquish. Mist quickly fills the ball. THE ORACLE curls her fists.]

THE ORACLE: (seething) I’ve served you loyally, and what do I get in return? To be replaced by some practitioner of good magic? You can’t get rid of me that easily! (She places her fingers once again to the crystal ball, this time revealing an image of PHOEBE.) I won’t let you have what you want, if I don’t get what I want.

[Scene: Manor. Entry way. There’s a small crackling sound, then the chandelier along with the rest of the lights in the house go out.]

PRUE's VOICE: (yelling) Paige!

(PAIGE runs down the stairs as PRUE walks into the entry way. They meet each other at the bottom of the steps. PRUE is holding a flashlight.)

PAIGE: Do you think the demons did this?

(PRUE shakes her head.)

PRUE: I think the storm caused the circuit breaker to go out. (She points the flashlight beam towards the kitchen.) I need you to go down the basement with me and hold the flashlight. (PAIGE bites her lip.) What?

PAIGE: I’m not fond of basements.

(PRUE raises her brows, amused.)

PRUE: Any particular reason? (They walk into the kitchen.)

PAIGE: We used to have a huge black furnace in the basement when I was five. I was afraid to go down there because I thought that if I did, it would swallow me alive.

(PRUE laughs as she opens the door to the basement.)

PRUE: Well, don’t worry, we don’t have a furnace. (As PAIGE steps through the door, PRUE tilts her head to the side.) A Woogy, but not a furnace.

(PAIGE freezes.)

PAIGE: A Woogy?

PRUE: Nothing to worry about unless we have an earthquake.

(PRUE starts to walk down the creaky steps. PAIGE makes a face, then hurries after her. As PRUE reaches the bottom of the basement, she shines the flashlight at the circuit box. It’s opened. Her eyes widen as PAIGE steps off the last step. She puts her arm out to keep PAIGE from moving around her.)

PAIGE: (worried) Prue?

(PRUE begins to shine the flashlight around the basement, but she doesn’t see anything. Then she hears a small click, followed by a sharp gasp.)

PRUE: Paige?

(PRUE spins around and shines her flashlight on PAIGE. PAIGE’s eyes are wide. Her hands are covered in blood as they rest on her bloody stomach, where about four inches of an arrow is sticking out. The flashlight drops from PRUE’s hands with a clank as PRUE lunges to catch PAIGE as she falls forward. Then she notices the shadowy outline of a woman at the top of the stairs. An empty crossbow is in her hands.)

PIPER: An eye for an eye.

BREAK

Act Three

[Scene: Manor. Living room. PRUE enters with her arms wrapped around PAIGE as she half carries and half drags her over to one of the sofas.][/b]

PRUE: (screaming) Leo! Leo get down here right now! (A small trail of blood seeps from the corner of PAIGE’s mouth. Her hands are shaking involuntarily as PRUE props her head up with a pillow.)

PAIGE: (weakly) I-I-I-

PRUE: (calmly) Shh. Don’t. It’ll be okay. Leo’s going to get here, and it’ll all be okay.

(PAIGE weakly shakes her head.)

PAIGE: (weakly) I-I’m s-s-sorry f-for ru-ining th-things for y-you.

(PRUE bites her lip as she takes PAIGE’s bloody hand in her own.)

PRUE: (whispering) You didn’t ruin anything, Paige. (She squeezes her hand.) I’m the one who should be apologizing. (PAIGE makes a small attempt at a smile, then her eyes roll back in her head and her hand falls limp. A tear slips down PRUE’s cheek as she looks to the ceiling.) Damnit, Leo! Get your ass down here!

[Scene: Underworld. COLE is watching PHOEBE as she kneels on the ground, next to a large circle of charred rock. PHOEBE presses her fingers to the blackened rock and closes her eyes. After several minutes, she stands up and lets out a frustrated growl.]

PHOEBE: Nothing. Not even a flash! I don’t get it. If she’s down here, wouldn’t this be the perfect place to get a vision of it?

COLE: Maybe that’s what you’re doing wrong.

PHOEBE: Excuse me?

COLE: She’s not down here.

PHOEBE: What are you talking about? She was chasing Demitrius down here. If she’s under Svengali’s power, then she wouldn’t have stopped until she vanquished him.

COLE: And what if she already has?

PHOEBE: What do you mean?

COLE: Svengali manipulates her victims into exacting vengeance on people that they wouldn’t normally hold responsible for something, or at least not consciously. She tricks them into hurting those that are innocent, and that is what turns them from an innocent themselves into a full fledged Vengeance Demon.

PHOEBE: So, what are you saying?

COLE: Demitrius isn’t Piper’s only victim.

(PHOEBE gasps.)

PHOEBE: Her second priority.

COLE: What?

PHOEBE: We have to get to the Manor. (She grabs COLE’s arm.) Now!

[Scene: The Golden Gate Bridge. LEO WYATT is seated on one of the red-orange beams, with his back against the cross beam. His arms are wrapped around his legs and his head is buried between his knees. His clothes are clinging to him, as he’s soaked from head to toe, and the rain is still pouring down in sheets. Beneath the howl of the wind, LEO’s soft sobs can be heard. Suddenly, LEO’s head jerks up and his hands fall to his stomach. He lets out a gasping cry as a fork of white hot lightning streaks across the sky.]

LEO: Paige! (The orange beam lights up as LEO dissolves into a swathe of blue-white light and vanishes.)

[Scene: Manor. Living room. COLE and PHOEBE shimmer in. As PHOEBE sees PAIGE bleeding on the sofa, she stops dead in her tracks. Her hand flies to her mouth, aghast.]

PHOEBE: Paige! (She darts to the sofa and falls to her knees at PAIGE’s side.) Oh my god, what happened?!

PRUE: Piper shot her with a darklighter crossbow.

PHOEBE: Piper...what?! (She stares at PRUE, unbelieving.) Where’s Leo?

LEO's VOICE: I’m right here.

(PRUE and PHOEBE turn to see LEO standing next to COLE.)

PRUE: (angrily, to LEO) Where the hell have you been?! Come heal her!

(As LEOeo moves towards PAIGE, a swirl of black smoke rises between them. PIPER appears, aiming the stolen crossbow at LEO.)

PIPER: You’re late…again.

(PIPER wraps her fingers around the trigger. Behind her, PRUE slashes her hand through the air, causing PIPER to sail across the room and crash into a cabinet containing several framed, family photographs. The crossbow lands several feet away.)
PRUE: Leo!

(LEO moves to PAIGE.)

PIPER: No!

(PIPER holds out her hand and a summons an athame in a puff of black smoke. She flings out her arm and the athame impales LEO’s stomach, sending him sprawling backwards from the sofa. PIPER stands up as LEO pulls the athame from his stomach. A golden glow flashes from his wound, healing itself.)

PRUE: (to PIPER) I don’t want to hurt you, Piper, but I’m not going to stand by while you hurt someone else either.

PIPER: Like hell you will! (She raises her hand.)

PHOEBE: Piper, listen to me. This isn’t you! You don’t want to hurt Leo. (She motions to PAIGE.) And you don’t want to let Paige die either.

[Cut to the Underworld. THE ORACLE is watching a vision of PIPER from her crystal ball. She sees PIPER’s red eyes flash brown, but only for a brief second. She looks at SVENGALI.]

THE ORACLE: The clairvoyant is getting in the way. Take her out!

(SVENGALI vanishes in a puff of red smoke. THE ORACLE smiles as she watches PHOEBE in the crystal globe. She places the tips of her fingers to the cool glass of her round crystal. Small flashes of electricity begin to burst in the center of the crystal ball and it begins to glow. At the same time, THE ORACLE’s eyes turn a white hot color.)

[Cut to the Manor. Red smoke begins to rise behind PHOEBE and COLE sees it.]

COLE: Phoebe, look out!

(COLE dives at PHOEBE, shoving her out of the way as SVENGALI materializes. Taking the moment of distraction, PIPER raises her arm and sends PRUE smashing into the Grandfather clock. PRUE slips to the floor, unconscious. SVENGALI mistakenly swipes her long, red nails at COLE, catching him across the face. His cheek begins to bleed and the four scratches begin to sizzle with poisonous venom. COLE emits a primal growl and shifts into BELTHAZOR. He grabs SVENGALI by the throat and as she chokes, she grabs onto his arm, digging her venomous nails into it. BELTHAZOR lets out a roar as they shimmer away. PHOEBE lets out a little gasp as a premonition overtakes her. Her eyes briefly glow white hot.)

PHOEBE: (whispering) She has to forgive herself!

(PIPER wiggles her fingers, summoning the crossbow to herself as she aims it at LEO.)

PIPER: (to LEO) I guess it’s just you and me, now.

(PHOEBE gets up from the floor and uses herself to shield LEO.)

PHOEBE: (to PIPER) No, you’re going to have to get through me first.

BREAK

Act Four

[Scene: Underworld. SVENGALI slams into the rock wall. She smiles and blood dribbles from the corner of her mouth. She wipes it away with her fingers and examines it. Then she looks up at BELTHAZOR and laughs.][/b]

SVENGALI: It’s too bad my powers don’t work on other demons, Belthazor, because I would love to see how you would take out your vengeance. (She sidesteps an energy ball, which barely misses her head.) I would love to see how you would kill her…Prue, right? Or is it Paige? Or is it the witch that you profess to love so much? (Her eyes glow.) Do you hate her for forcing this conflict on you?

(BELTHAZOR lunges at SVENGALI.)

BELTHAZOR: Leave her out of it!

(A cloud of red smoke appears in her palm, followed by an athame. As BELTHAZOR grabs for her, she slices his chest, causing a piece of bloody red flesh to fall to the ground. BELTHAZOR howls in pain as he shifts back into COLE.)

SVENGALI: Not so tough now, are you Coleridge? (She grabs COLE by the chin and pulls their faces just centimeters apart. Suddenly, the snake cuff flashes and begins slithering on her arm. She presses her lips to COLE’s as the snake bites his neck. As she pulls away, the snake returns to a golden bracelet and COLE drops to the floor.) Then again, maybe my powers aren’t so useless after all. (She bends down and grabs the piece of BELTHAZOR flesh before smoking out.)

[Scene: Manor. Living room. PRUE’s lying unconscious on the floor, next to the broken Grandfather clock. PHOEBE is standing in front of LEO, using herself as a human shield to protect him from PIPER, who has the darklighter crossbow aimed at her sister. PHOEBE’s pleading with PIPER.]

PHOEBE: Piper, don’t do this. This isn’t you!

PIPER: Get out of my way, Phoebe. I don’t want to hurt you, but I will if I have to.

PHOEBE: No. (She inches away from LEO and towards PIPER.) You won’t hurt me, I know you won’t.

(PIPER looks at PAIGE, who’s shivering on the sofa from the effects of the darklighter poison. Then her eyes move to PRUE, who’s unconscious on the floor.)

PIPER: I hurt them, so what makes you think I won’t hurt you.

PHOEBE: Because I’m not a threat to you. I don’t have any active powers to trick or trap you with. (She takes a few steps closer.) I just want to talk.

PIPER: We’ve got nothing to talk about. (She eyes LEO again.) All I want is him.

PHOEBE: You don’t want to hurt him, Piper. He’s your husband-

PIPER: (yelling) And he was supposed to be a father, but he let our baby down!

LEO: Just like Victor let you down? (He tries to move around PHOEBE, but she blocks him.)

PHOEBE: Leo-

LEO: No Phoebe, I have to do this. The only way for Piper to heal is through forgiveness. That has to start to with me.

PHOEBE: (whispering) But she-

LEO: I know what she’s capable of. (Hesitantly, PHOEBE moves aside. LEO takes several cautious steps towards PIPER. He looks PIPER directly in the eyes.) I’m sorry, Piper. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for her. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you.

PIPER: Liar. (She aims the crossbow at his heart.) You’re a liar!

LEO: Then shoot me. (He spreads out his arms.) Prove that you hold me responsible. (PIPER’s arms tremble as she wraps her finger around the trigger of the crossbow. LEO starts to slowly walk towards her.) Do it, Piper. Kill me. (PIPER’s eyes begin to flash between red and brown.) You can’t, can you? Because you don’t truly hold me responsible. Or Paige. Or even Demitrius. You hold yourself responsible for her death. You think that if you’d done something different, then maybe she’d still be alive.

PIPER: Stop it!

LEO: You’re the only one who can end this, Piper. You have to forgive yourself. It wasn’t your fault. Everything happens for a reason, Piper.

PIPER: I said stop it! (A tear dribbles down her cheek.)

LEO: You couldn’t have done anything to stop it. Piper, it wasn’t your fault!

(The crossbow falls from PIPER’s hands. Her eyes revert to brown. She clutches her stomach as she falls to her knees.)

PIPER: I’m sorry! (Tears gush from her eyes as her clothing morph back into what she was wearing before SVENGALI converted her. A few small drops of blood leak from the snake bite on her neck.) I’m so sorry!

(LEO seperates the distance between them and holds PIPER as she cries in his arms. PHOEBE clears her throat. She looks between the couple and PAIGE who's fallen unconscious on the sofa.)

Phoebe: Leo, (she points to PAIGE) heal Paige! (LEO kisses the top of PIPER's head and stands up. As LEO moves to PAIGE, PHOEBE moves to PIPER. She drops to the floor next to her and wraps her arms around PIPER, who buries her head into PHOEBE’s shoulder. PHOEBE gently strokes PIPER’s hair and begins to whisper into PIPER’s ear.) It’s alright, Piper. I’m here. You’re okay. (She hugs her sister.) Shhh…

[Scene: Underworld. THE ORACLE's lair. SVENGALI is waiting as THE ORACLE stares into her crystal ball. Suddenly, SVENGALI lets out a shriek. THE ORACLE turns her head in time to see all of the snake shaped bracelets and the snake on the golden breastplate glow and become real, slithering serpents.]

SVENGALIi: (screaming) No! Please, no!

(The snakes hiss as they slither around her body and begin to constrict her. She drops to her knees as they all rear back and strike at once, inflicting fatal, venomous bites all over her body. Blood drops from the bites and her skin starts to change color as the poison makes its way through her bloodstream. She lets out a final scream before exploding into a fiery vanquish, snakes and all. THE ORACLE looks at the remaining scorch mark with amusement.)

THE ORACLE: Humanity’s a bitch, isn’t it?

Act Five

[Scene: P3. PHOEBE and PAIGE are sitting at the bar. PAIGE has her head in her hands. She looks bored. PHOEBE wraps her arms around PAIGE's shoulders.][/b]

PHOEBE: Oh come on, Paige. Don’t feel bad, we’re both dateless tonight.

PAIGE: Yeah, but I was really looking forward to listening to Michelle Branch with Glenn.

(PHOEBE wrinkles her nose and copies PAIGE’s pose with her head in her hands.)

PHOEBE: (sighing) Yeah, I know what you mean. Cole and I were supposed to break out the champagne and-

(PAIGE raises her hands in surrender.)

PAIGE: Okay, okay! I’ll stop complaining, you win. (PHOEBE rolls her eyes as PRUE walks up to the bar. She looks at PRUE.) You too, huh?

PRUE: Matt got stuck developing some pictures for an article on the governor tomorrow. I couldn’t talk him into procrastinating. (She pulls up a bar stool and sits down.) What’re you guys up to?

PHOEBE: Moping.

PRUE: Mind if I join?

PAIGE: Nope. (She starts to raise her hand to summon over the bartender, when she sees their innocent, SOPHIE, walking down the stairs.) Hey, is that who I think it is?

(PHOEBE and PRUE follow PAIGE’s line of vision.)

PHOEBE: Our innocent? (PAIGE nods.) I wonder what she’s doing here. (She scratches her head.)

PRUE: (to PAIGE) I thought you said she didn’t remember anything just prior to her fainting?

PAIGE: She didn’t. Phoebe and I were with Darryl when he questioned her about the (she forms her fingers into quotations) robbery, at the barbershop.

SOPHIE: Paige?

(The sisters turn around and smile.)

PAIGE: Oh, Sophie, hi. What a coincidence. (She glances at PHOEBE.) Uhm, how’re you doing? I mean…you haven’t heard any news on the robbery, have you?

(SOPHIE shakes her head.)

SOPHIE: No. Inspector Morris said he’d call me if they got any leads. (She shrugs.) I’m just glad I’m alright.

(PAIGE nods.)

PAIGE: So what brings you here?

(SOPHIE motions towards the stage.)

SOPHIE: Michelle Branch. Charlie and I are huge fans, so when we heard she was playing here tonight, we knew we had to spend our one year here.

PRUE: Oh, well congratulations!

SOPHIE: Thank you. (Her eyes widen.) Hey, there she is now! (She waves her arm.) Charlie, over here!

PHOEBE & PRUE: She?!

(A tall brunette walks over to the foursome and SOPHIE greets her with a passionate kiss. The Halliwell sisters gawk.)

PAIGE: (surprised) This is Charlie?

SOPHIE: Yeah…who were you expecting?

(PAIGE exchanges looks with PRUE and PHOEBE. CHARLIE holds out her hand.)

CHARLIE: Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Charlene Malcovich. It’s nice to meet you.

(PAIGE smirks as she shakes her hand.)

PAIGE: Paige Matthews. It’s nice to make your acquaintance. (pause) And uhm, these are my sisters, Prue and Phoebe Halliwell.

(CHARLIE shakes hands with PRUE and PHOEBE. PHOEBE turns quickly to the bartender and snaps her fingers.)

PHOEBE: Hey Aaron, what’re you waiting for? (She motions her hand in a circle.) Champagne for all! We’ve got an anniversary to celebrate.

(PRUE motions to PAIGE, who’s face is a little pink.)

PRUE: Uh, Pheebs? Aren’t you forgetting something?

PHOEBE: I don’t think- (Her eyes widen.) Oh! Sorry, Paige. (She holds up her hand.) Sorry, Aaron. Champagne for everyone except Paige.

(PAIGE laughs.)

PAIGE: It’s okay, Phoebe. (to AARON) I’ll take a mineral water, please.

(AARON smiles.)

AARON: Coming right up. (He grabs a few glasses and starts to fill the orders at the lights dim. The ANNOUNCER comes out on stage and takes the microphone.)

ANNOUNCER: I’d like you all to please put your hands together for tonight’s special guest, Michelle Branch!

(The curtain raises to reveal MICHELLE BRANCH. P3 fills with applause and when it dies down, MICHELLE starts to perform her hit, “I’ll Always Be Right There.” CHARLIE leads SOPHIE onto the dance floor and they wrap their arms around each other and sway to the song. The Charmed Ones watch on with smiles.)

[Scene: Golden Gate Bridge. It’s dark, except for the bright lights radiating from San Francisco. However, being so high on one of the beams of the Golden Gate, the only sound is that of the wind. Above, the sky twinkles with stars. Suddenly, a trail of blue and white dazzling lights descends from the sky and culminates on the red-orange beam, forming into LEO and PIPER. PIPER shivers and LEO pulls her close.]

PIPER: Where are we?

LEO: On the Golden Gate Bridge.

(PIPER gasps.)

PIPER: What?!

LEO: It’s okay. (He holds her as she peers down at the cars below.) I have you, you’re safe.

PIPER: What’re we doing here?

LEO: I go here when I need to meditate; to clear my mind. (He bows his head.) When you told me to leave yesterday, this is where I came.

(PIPER bows her head.)

PIPER: I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it.

LEO: I know you didn’t. (He places his hand over her stomach.) You were hurting, and I understand that.

PIPER: So why did you bring me here?

LEO: I wanted to share this with you. And… (He pulls a small vanilla scented candle from his pocket, along with a lighter.) I thought we might be able to tell her goodbye together. (A few tears streak down PIPER’s cheeks. Carefully, LEO places his thumb to her cheek and wipes away her tears.) If you don’t want to-

PIPER: No. (She shakes her head.) No, I do. I mean, it’s the least we can do, right?

(LEO nods.)

LEO: If you’re sure…

PIPER: I am.

(LEO carefully cradles the candle in his hand and holds it up. He places the lighter in PIPER’s palm, and she presses the button, igniting a bright orange flame. The wind seems to die down as the hot orange light reflects off PIPER and LEO’s worn and tired faces. PIPER then moves the flame to the white candle wick and ignites it. The sweet smell of vanilla permeates their nostrils as the flame burns innocently in the night. PIPER leans her head onto LEO’s shoulder and LEO wraps his arms around her, pulling her close. They both gaze into flame, each silently saying their goodbyes to their lost child.)
