RUMOR: Taylor Lautner being replaced for New Moon

There's casting news in the drama that is Twilight sequel New Moon.

The director of the first film, which was a box office sensation, has already been replaced by Chris Weitz - and now he's reportedly eyeing a new man to play the lead role.

It seems 26-year-old Scorpion King 2 hunk Michael Copon is looking mighty good to Weitz as lead character Jacob Black, played by lesser-known Taylor Lautner in the first film.

And he's not the only one trying to score this role.

Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian star Ben Barnes is reportedly interested in the film, which is set to begin filming in just 12 weeks.

But nothing is official yet.

"The casting decision in regards to the character Jacob Black has yet to be made," a film rep told MTV News on Tuesday.

Taylor Lautner was the most horrible actor in the whole Twilight.
He was NOT the right person to play Jacob. Personally I hope Copon gets the deal. I'll totally go see New Moon if he's the new Jacob. ;D

Course I still LOVE Edward...just not the person who plays him. Good luck to Copon and buh bye Lautner. (my prayers has been answered)

They better not recast him! I'll be so pissed. I HATE recasts to begin with, but what'll make this even worse is that I loved Taylor as Jacob! I hope this is nothing more than a bad rumor.

But Jacob changes SO MUCH. No way can that little boy play Wolf!Jacob. And I don't like Taylor. So I'm all for a change.

As for Ben Barnes? I hear he wants ARO, so he can still be around. I just always pictured Aro as older (and BLONDE!).

Oh I'm all for him being Aro, Copon just has to be Jacob. I agree with Jackie. Since Jacob changes so much, it'd be bad for Lautner to continue the role. I also hate him too, so it just works out. Too smiley and stuff like that.

I still haven't read the books, but I personally thought Taylor did a kick ass job at the change Jake went through in NM. (And all the body building and muscle, oh my Goddess! ) He and J/B (not Bella herself but them as a couple) were my favorite part of the movie. I am so glad he got to keep the role!
