Which I'm surprised you'd say. It's not like I'm a feminist woman, I'm a man who believes in equal rights on all levels. However Charmed is all about showing how powerful women can be, breaking the sterotypical "women can only be damasal's outlook" that the media world seem to have. I agree, that's what I love about Charmed...BUT the fact that women are only allowed to be witches in the Halliwell family just seems sexist to me. If it were the other way around (men having more power than women) people would be pissed off. But if it's women who are more powerful than men then it's ok. That's not really fair in my opinion. I hate sexism from either side (male or female).

If it makes you feel better, then feel free to think of it like I do which is this: Think of it as a matter of CRR-verse biology instead of sexism. In the Warren line the "witch" gene is carried as a recessive trait on the X chromosome. As a male (XY) Chris only received a single X chromosome, which is not itself enough to manifest a strong enough good witch's aura that's needed for such things as using genetic witch powers, spell casting, or resisting a freeze. (Contact with Melinda's aura is able to "awaken" this gene allowing his aura to combine with hers to manifest the Twice Blessed powers that have been shown)
Of course even if we wanted to, any explanation that goes into analyzing genetics like that is too technical for a Charmed script, and probably beyond the characters. So plain and simply Chris is just not a witch...

One of the big factors of Charmed is that it's based on powerful women. If men start flying around with more power than that ruins the roots of the show. And that's exactly what did happen. Personally, I was (and still am) extremely offended by it. I also take issue with glaring continuity errors. I know everyone can't be perfect, but when something is stated over and over and over, you don't just have the right to change it (at least not without reasonable explanation)! Case in point: Wyatt! (And all the other "male witches" that followed.) We were told for three years on Charmed that only women born to the Warren line can Warren inherit powers and become witches. It wasn't just stated once forever and a day ago, it was repeated and reinforced again and again. I don't think it sounds sexist, it's just fact according to Charmed's continuity. Male Warrens aren't witches. When Kern took control of the show, he spit in the face of the first three seasons. He decided to do a gender role swap and make males became the "powerful" gender (whether it made sense or not). I detest that. I think it was one of the "wrongs" of the show. Which brings me to C:RR. Our purpose is to " write the wrongs" of Charmed. Now, I can't speak for the other staff on their personal views of the Wyatt/Chris/male Warren witches, but I can say that as far as Chris is concerned, C:RR recognizes the first three seasons of Charmed in its canon, which means we recognize the "rule" that Warren males don't inherit Warren powers. But this doesn't mean we have or intend to let Chris become "lesser" because he's not a witch. If anything, we've tried to show him just as powerful and adept in his own right.

So plain and simply Chris is just not a witch... Well that makes more sense. But I think that male Warren witches should at least have innate magical abilities like spell casting and scrying. He is technically half witch/half whitelighter since his mother is a witch and his father is a whitelighter. When Kern took control of the show, he spit in the face of the first three seasons. He decided to do a gender role swap and make males became the "powerful" gender (whether it made sense or not). I detest that. I think it was one of the "wrongs" of the show. And I agree with this. Please, I ask everyone to not take what I say the wrong way. I don't want the male witches to have more power than female...BUT I still would like to see their male children to have powers too. Just not like Super boy. Maybe I feel this way because I'm used to seeing all the Charmed children getting at least one power.

The only power I recall original Original S6 Chris having was TK, which can also be explained as a whitelighter power? So did he in fact have a "witch" power?

Exactly X. Was Wyatt just an expection - doubtful but possible. I wouldn't like to give Kern that much credit, he never particular payed any attention to continuity and after all, he did still create Superbrat.

That's why I use this theory. Because Chris only showed TK plus whitelighter abilities. People don't see TK as a whitelighter power, but Leo used it a couple of times in the series.
Also..this half stuff. Prue, Piper, and Phoebe are HALF WITCH, HALF MORTAL. But people still say their witches. Not half witches...

Does this mean what I think it means? You're going to give Chris an actual "witch" power? I LOVE the way you guys work this stuff...

I don't think they will but I would want to see that. Or at least have innate witch abilities. Does he even have that? Also..this half stuff. Prue, Piper, and Phoebe are HALF WITCH, HALF MORTAL. But people still say their witches. Not half witches... Yes, and this would make Melinda and Chris part Mortal, part Witch, part Whitelighter. Wait....why isn't Melinda part whitelighter like Paige? Leo is her father after all. This is too confusing.

Chris, from our points of view, Chris (oh, that was weird) is not a witch.
Also, from the episode, you can see that Chris does not cast spells. He had the Sisters do it and Melinda.

Well Chris is still part witch but that part of him isn't accesible unlike most because he's a Halliwell and the Warren line states that only women can inherit the "witchy" side. But like X said with the chromosones - Chris recieved mostly whitelighter genes leaving Melinda very little, making it so like Chris as his witchy magic, there is not enough power there to allow Melinda to generate a whitelighter power on her own. But as a twosome they can use all their collective power as a unit.

I'm confused. But whatever.
Ok...so if Piper and Leo were to have another kid, male or female, would they actually be half and half or only one?

Wait....why isn't Melinda part whitelighter like Paige? Leo is her father after all. Melinda is half whitelighter, just like Paige. But just because Mel is half whitelighter doesn't mean she has to inherit whitelighter powers. She may or may not manifest whitelighter powers later on. Just because Charmed gave everyone with WL genes the ability to orb (and telekinetically orb) doesn't mean that everyone with WL genes automatically gets orbing and/or orbing based powers. Personally, I think the writers just got lazy after Paige and decided they didn't want to actually think of new powers, but that's just MHO. ETA:Ok...so if Piper and Leo were to have another kid, male or female, would they actually be half and half or only one? If Piper and Leo were to have another child, and the child was female, she would be half witch and half whitelighter, just like Melinda and Paige. The child could possess powers from both her parents, though as I already explained, that doesn't necessarily mean she would have both. She could inherit just witchy powers, or be more WL based, or have a "witchlighter" mix (i.e. TKO). But if the child were another male, he would be just half whitelighter, like Chris, and possess WL based powers. (Though he wouldn't be as powerful as Chris, because Chris is Twice Blessed and that child would not be.)

Male Warrens aren't witches. I see a lot people make this point and while its valid its not valid...It came from Prue during season1 when she was a witch for not even a year yet. It seemed to me that she was mostly assuming that males cant be witches since unless she read it somewhere in the BOS there is no way she would be able to know that males (which are a rareity in the Warren line) cant be witches. And while I know it cant be worked in now, but I remember when Wyatt was first born and there were so many rumors going around on the net about there being an episode dealing with males in the Warren family and how they are basically cursed to die. That wouldve been an interesting storyline to go with Chris and then it could also be said that male witches in the Warren line have generally been weaker/come into their powers later than the females.
